Our SEND swimming lessons are designed for children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who would benefit from a calmer, more personalised approach to learning to swim.
We create a safe, welcoming environment where every swimmer is treated as an individual. Lessons are adapted to each child’s needs, preferences and abilities, with a focus on building confidence, having fun and feeling secure in the water.
Who These Classes Are For
These lessons are suitable for:
- Children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Swimmers who may find mainstream group lessons overwhelming
- Children who benefit from extra time, reassurance or a quieter environment
- Swimmers with sensory needs, anxiety, or communication requirements
- Those who need a more flexible, individually paced approach to learning
We work closely with parents and carers to understand each swimmer’s needs before they join, so we can plan lessons that will help them feel comfortable and supported.
What We Focus On
Every swimmer is different, so we adapt our teaching to suit them. Depending on the swimmers needs and starting point, we may focus on:
- Building trust and confidence in and around the water
- Gentle water introduction and getting used to splashing, floating and movement
- Clear, consistent routines to help swimmers feel secure
- Using visual cues, simple instructions and repetition
- Developing water safety awareness at a pace that feels right
- Learning core swimming skills such as floating, kicking and basic strokes
- Improving coordination, strength and body awareness in the water
- Supporting emotional regulation with calm, well-structured sessions
We keep numbers very small so that our teachers can give plenty of individual support, encouragement and positive reinforcement.
Price
Our SEND swimming lessons are priced in line with our group lessons:
- £12.50 per 30-minute lesson
This includes high-quality, tailored teaching in a small, supportive group.
Private Lessons
For some swimmers with SEND, a quieter one-to-one environment may be more suitable, so if this sounds more appropriate and to find out more:
